Burlington (ON) - Hidden Lake Golf Club (New Course) in Burlington (ON) will once again play host to the upcoming Southern Ontario Open July 26-29. This will be the fifth playing of the Championship and this year's edition is shaping up to be one of the strongest fields in recent years. With the RBC Canadian Open being contested not far down the road in Oakville (ON), the Southern Ontario Open saw it's field bolstered as both Dave Levesque from Ste-Catherine (QC) and Branson Ferrier from Barrie (ON) have committed to play at Hidden Lake Golf Club. Levesque comes into the Southern Ontario Open as the #1 ranked player in the PGA of Canada rankings, a position that earned him a spot in the Canadian Open field. Ferrier who recently turned professional and played his first event professionally on June 2, earned his ticket to the Canadian Open field by winning the Regional Qualifier at King's Forest Golf Course in Hamilton (ON). The Southern Ontario Open is advertised as "Ontario's Only Open Golf Championship" and features both golf professionals and elite amateurs. This year three countries will be represented as participants are coming from U.S.A, Bermuda and Canada. Provincially, Alberta, British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario will be represented. "Since we took over the Southern Ontario Open, it's been our plan to make it stand out as a major event in Ontario Golf." Stated Great Lakes Tour President Jim Kenesky. "Branson and Dave are going to truly add something special to the field. With the conditions of the course being fast, firm and downright amazing for such a dry summer, we can't wait to see what drama will unfold this week." 2016 will also feature a great partnership with Bermuda Tourism and Fairmont Southampton Bermuda, where the winner of the Southern Ontario Open will walk away with Air Fare, Accommodation at the Fairmont Southampton and an entry fee paid into the Grey Goose World Par 3 Championship at Turtle Hill Golf Club in March. Public is welcome to come out FREE of charge Tuesday through Friday. Tee Times will be commence at 7:30am each day off hole number one. The field will be cut to low 55 players and ties after 36 holes. Major Series of Putting Qualifiers will be available to the public Tuesday 12pm to 6pm and Wednesday 12pm to 5pm.
