FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE By: Michaela DiMarcantonio Burlington, ON - The local Hamilton Halton Junior Golf Tour (HHJGT) will be represented in the field of professionals and amateurs playing in the NGA Great Lakes Southern Ontario Open presented by the Great Lakes Tour this week from Thursday July 24 to Sunday July 27 at Hidden Lake Golf Club in Burlington, ON. HHJGT President and PGA of Canada professional Jim Kenesky along with the 2013 HHJGT Junior Division Champion, Gregg Goddard will be teeing it up for the first round of play tomorrow at their home club. Both players have been having a solid week in tournament play thus far. Kenesky captured a Golden Horseshoe Tour event co-win on Monday July 21, after firing off a 3-under par round of 68 at Heron Point Golf Club... In addition, Goddard tied for a fourth place finish on Tuesday July 22, shooting a 2-over par round of 74 at RattleSnake Point Golf Club for the third tour stop of the 2014 HHJGT season.
Goddard recently received an exemption into the Southern Ontario Open and HHJGT President Kenesky believes that Goddard is a prime example of the talent that exists on the HHJGT. HHJGT President, Kenesky spoke about the opportunity playing in the Southern Ontario Open will provide for Goddard. “Gregg has a chance to do very well. He is a great player with a good demeanor. He has a good head on his shoulders and this event will be a good test for him. There is a good mix of professionals and top amateurs in the field. Gregg as a junior golfer and amateur will be playing against the likes of the NGA and PGA Tour Canada players as well as the top Great Lakes Tour professionals” said Kenesky. Goddard, excited for the event, said “I’m really looking forward to it, it is going to be a good learning experience playing with the pros and I hope to play well. I know the course, I just have to play my own game. My goal is to make the cut and maybe be low amateur.” First round of play begins Thursday morning at Hidden Lake Golf Club on the New Course at 7:30am with split tee times.
